Doodlings #2

Time for show and tell!!  Today I worked at the store.  You know how they say "when you're trying to save money, stay out of the shopping mall!!!"?  Well, me working at the store all day is like sending an opium addict to China for a romp in the poppies.  Joe and I are saving for a house.  Saving, saving.  And as you all know from last week's post, I already spent all my blow money on my magnificent theatre seats.  Do I regret it? Absolutely NOT!  But it still left me in a store full of pretty things all day long with sparse customers to distract me.

My solution?  I took a camera.
Hey, when you can't buy it, just take a picture!  That way even though you don't own it, you still have a record of its existence.  Here are some things from the store that caught my eye.
A Beautiful vintage necklace, earring, and bracelet set.  Sorry the picture's a bit blurred--it was under glass...so people don't get sticky fingers :)

These are the candles that I've been admiring for a while.  They have beautiful, exotic names for their scents like "Spring Breeze" or "Woodland Mist."  There's one that smells heavenly, it's my favorite.  Want to know what its name is?

Yeah, seriously.  I have to pick the one called Monkey Farts.  Awesome.
It's hard to tell from this picture, but this trunk is actually pretty small--probably just over 2 feet wide.  The tag said this trunk was actually from a stagecoach!! How cool is that?!
Mad Men, anyone?  "It's Toasted."

My Mom wants something like this for her doggy.  See what I found, Mom??!
Here's the steal of a deal, people.  This bench-sofa-chaise furniture piece is calling my name, soft and sweet.  It's saying "It would be soooo easy to reupholster me and love me for the rest of your life!!"  Our college's alumni house had a piece like this in front of the fireplace.  It was my favorite--so incredibly comfortable, and since it doesn't have a back it doesn't visually break up the room nearly as much as a regular sofa.  Luvin' it.  Anyone want to buy it for my birthday and then store it until I have someplace to put it?
This reminds me of the Closet Door Sofa Table that Joe and I built.  Another great use of old closet doors (or this might even be a regular door sawn in two)--and see, she even left the knob on!  Fun!
What?  You didn't know there was consignment clothing in our store?  Yes, yes there is.  And I like this shirt a lot.
This is probably the cutest Pyrex casserole I've ever seen.
I don't know why, but this little wooden spool caught my fancy.  It would be cute as a part of a little vignette on a mantle or bookcase.
Wouldn't this be the sweetest little dish on your bedside stand to hold your earrings that you forget to take out before you get into bed?
What?  Oh, you don't forget to take them out every night?  Oh.  Never mind.
I don't either...
If you like little glass dishes, feast your eyes on this table full of goodies.
I really like these wine glasses.  Joe says they're plastic.  I think he's wrong.  They're just really thin glass, and if he keeps making them flex to prove they're plastic, they're going to break and prove that I was right.  Glass.  And then I'll get to have the other five 'cause I'll have to buy them...
Good plan.
I have no idea what I would use these for...well, besides spices of course.  But they're cute all the same.

There you go!  Now I have shown the world the things that tempted me all day, and I am cleansed.  Maybe I passed on the bug to you!  Ha!  Now you'll have to come all the way to Minnesota just to visit our store!

'Til Next Time, keep it classy.
And buy me a birthday present.  26 days and counting, people.

  2. These are such great finds. I'm at the age now where I don't want to buy/collect/have much any more, so taking photos and looking at other photos of pretty things is how I get through the withdrawal. It's kinda working.
